Snootie Wild was lying to us when he brashly sang all he knows is “Yayo.”
The 29-year-old, born LePreston Porter, knows a whole lot more than the lifestyle he used to lead. One of Billboard’s current favorite “Emerging Artists,” Snootie is now celebrating the completion of his first year as a successful artist. We had a great chat to celebrate his Go Mode EP covering his life as a new star, how he’s handling fame, being a ladies man and more.
Who better to kick off the “Woman On Top” segment for my “International Affair” radio show than Brianna Perry?
The fresh-faced rapper has been putting in work since she was a child, making her debut on Trina‘s Diamond Princess album at the tender age of 10. A recent graduate of the University of Miami, the now 22-year-old just released the buzz single “I’m That B.I.T.C.H” and is starring in Oxygen’s Sisterhood Of Hip Hop reality series.
I caught up with Brianna during a private spa event in New York City, celebrating her recent success.
For an artist introducing herself to a growing fanbase through deeply emotional (and frankly, sad) tracks like “Hold Me” and “Dark Mind,” Janine & The Mixtape sure has a lot to smile about nowadays.
Hailing from New Zealand, the singer, songwriter, producer and owner of Little Mixtape Records is making serious noise in the U.S. with her music. Her debut single “Hold Me” immediately resonated with audiences when featured in an episode of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, and will not only be featured on the show’s soundtrack (out now through Def Jam Records) but will have a powerful remix in coming weeks.
DJ Steel and I caught up with Janine for the first episode of my “International Affair” radio show, kicking off our “Change The Game” worldwide music segment.
DASH Radio is here and ready to change the way you listen to radio forever.
The brainchild of my long time friend DJ Skee, DASH offers up everything you love about radio: top-rated DJs and hosts, free to air via the official website and app, tons of diverse channels to choose from and absolutely no commercials.
“Radio was the first social network, the first time people really listened together,” Skee tells Billboard today. “And we want to bring that feeling back, but with more freedom than what FM and satellite can offer. Digital radio today is not real radio — it’s like making a mixtape for your friends. There’s still a time where you just want to listen to curated radio, and we want to be that option.”
My weekly show, “International Affair With Boss Lady”, officially launches tonight on DASH’s “The Cut” channel at 10pm ET / 7pm ET. With exciting segments like “Sound & Style,” “Woman On Top” (with first guest Brianna Perry from Oxygen’s Sisterhood Of Hip Hop) and “Change The Game” (with first guest New Zealand’s new pop sensation Janine & The Mixtape), “International Affair” looks set to be one of my proudest achievements to date.
Download the DASH Radio app here and be prepared for a new day in radio!
