The Power Of You Teens is set to be a groundbreaking event in Harlem this summer.
An “Empowerment Experience Expo,” the one-day affair on Saturday, August 24 sets out to equip girls between the ages of 13 – 19 with the tools they need to realize their full potential as they become successful women. Founded by businesswoman and philanthropist Felicia Gibson Jaycox,The Power Of You Teens is a much-needed forum for today’s inner city youth with celebrity guests, giveaways and more.
I’m extremely proud to be on the event’s Advisory Board and hosting the “Power Women” panel on the day. General Admission is free—to register visit here.
In the first of a new series titled The Breakthrough, Simone “Boss Lady” Amelia sat down with A$AP Rocky and an audience of teenagers from the mentor organization she works with, New York Youth At Risk (www.nyyouthatrisk.org) this past weekend in Harlem.
Rocky spoke on his relationship with his mother, where he found strength during the darkest times of his life, the importance of mentors, what he looks for in an ideal partner and more. He also answered questions from the audience.
The Breakthrough series motivates and inspires young people by allowing them to get up close and personal with their favorite artists. It gives the artists an opportunity to “give back” and show them in a positive light, when a majority are often only glorified for the wrong things.
